Change 1 at 2005-09-22 07:59:46 by Herbert Poul (Kahless):

After the first start GOIM will automatically start the preference dialog for accounts:\\
(Note that by 'Account' it is meant a local setting under which jabber user data are saved.
So creating an account only means to locally set up a new jabber id/password data, and not
register with a jabber server)

Here you need to create an account and click on "Create".

Now you can give the account a name. This is only a name under which it is known in your
local preferences. Call it whatever you want to.\\
Now, if you never used jabber before you most likely have no jabber user registered on any
server. In this case mark the 'Register New User' checkbox.

If you wanted to register a new user you will get the above window. Here you have to
choose a Jabber Id. A jabber id always consists of @. There are various
public servers under which you can register a username of your choice. (for a full list
you can look at http://www.jabber.org/network/ or you simply use @sphene.net).

So after you have decided which server (e.g. sphene.net) to use, decide for a username
(e.g. mynick) and enter it into the Jabber Id field: e.g. mynick@sphene.net

Afterwards choose a password and enter it into the two fields. Now clicking on register
should connect to the specified server and register your account.

If everything went fine, you should receive a confirmation dialog, otherwise an error dialog
should display what went wrong and let you change the settings.
